THERESE HONEY

therese honeyTherese Honey is an award-winning harpist with an extensive background in classical and early music. She began her harp studies at age seven with Beatrice Rose, former principal harpist of the Houston Symphony. Therese specializes in medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque music on historical harps as well as in Celtic and other folk music of the British Isles on Neo-Celtic harp. She performs traditional music solo and as a member of Wyndnwyre, a trio comprising Therese (harp), Bill Klecka (hammered dulcimer, guitar, mandolin) and Mark Johnson (Irish flute, bodhran, guitar, and whistles), with an emphasis on Irish, Scottish, Welsh, and 13th-century music. She performs for audiences at festivals, conferences, workshops, and many other venues. Therese is also a well-respected harp teacher. In addition to her private studio, Therese teaches workshops on Medieval, Renaissance and Celtic repertoire, arranging and style, and Harp Ensemble. She is a dynamic teacher who inspires and motivates her students to learn more about the harp: its technique, repertoire and history. Topics also covered include harp purchase and maintenance, technique and posture, and performance attitude and preparation.
