For over 25 years, Rick has played Irish music in the southeastern US on mandolin, bouzouki, button accordion, guitar, and whistle. A veteran of many Irish bands during this time, he was a founding member of regional favorites The Craicers, Redhill, and Pumpsie Green, as well as having played with Legacy and Henri’s Notions, and is a perennial member of The Lone Star Ceili Band. His mandolin playing is featured on the Henri’s Notions recording, The Homecoming. Rick won First Place Senior Solo Mandolin at the Midwest Fleadh Cheoil in 2006, and competed in the All Ireland that year. Workshops he has given include those at the North Texas Irish Festival , Mississippi Celticfest, and the O’Flaherty Irish Music retreat, and he currently appears as a solo performer and teaches private students in the Birmingham, Alabama area.
