Albert began his musical adventure as a member of "The New Dallas String Band" playing traditional American music on piano accordion. It was during this time that he learned to love Irish music. Along with Albert, three others from the string band (Russ Alvey, Peggy Davis and Earnie Taft) started to play strictly Irish music. With Ken Fleming and soundman Travis Ener, they formed the group "Tinker's Dam" in the winter of 1981.
When Albert was with "Tinker's Dam", he played the piano accordion but became enamored with the bodhran. He eventually dropped the accordion altogether to concentrate solely on his bodhran playing and later began his business of building some of the best bodhrans available. You can hear Albert playing on Roger Landes' "Dragon Reels," Chris Grotewohl's "Under the Influence," and Mike Dugger's "At Early Dawn." Solas' "Sunny Spells and Scattered Showers" has Seamus Egan and John Anthony playing a drum he made. Albert is currently a member of the Trinity Hall Session Players and performs with leading bands all across the country.
