General:
1. Have you been playing traditional Irish whistle music
regularly (at least four hours per week) for at least four years?
2. Have you been playing the whistle for at least five years?
3. Are you comfortable performing a set of three Irish reels solo?
4. Are you capable of learning traditional Irish fiddle tunes by ear from a
recording?
Repertoire:
1. Can you play from memory at least fifty traditional
Irish tunes?
2. Can you play at least twenty Irish reels from memory?
Technique
1. Can you execute all of the basic forms of Irish whistle
ornamentation in your playing ( i.e. grace notes, rolls ( long and short),
triplets, crans and trills?
2. Are you comfortable articulating notes without tonguing?
3. Are you comfortable playing in any octave with smooth control of air
flow?
